T minus 6 days

The last 7 days or so have been somewhat of a blur. We received our Travel Approval last Thursday, but had to wait until Friday to make sure we could secure a consulate appointment before we could know with 100% certainty that we'd travel in February.

We received notice of that appointment Friday morning. The rest of Friday was spent comparing prices, making phone calls and booking flights. As of last Friday, our flights were confirmed.

We will leave for China on February 20 and return March 8.

It's a little surreal to think that at this time next week, we'll be halfway across the world. I haven't even left and I miss my kids already! This will be the longest we've ever been away from them, by far. They will be in good hands, but oh how my heart aches when I think about leaving them! I'm hoping once we're there, I'll be able to relax and concentrate on the task at hand and not worry about what's going on at home.

We received our in-country itinerary today. We will be in Bejing for three days, then fly to Nanjing on February 24.

On February 25, we will meet Meili - and she will be placed in our care. Some people call this "Gotcha Day." No offense to anyone who chooses that term, but for some reason, when I hear the word "gotcha," all I can think of is the word "snatch." And I really don't want to feel like we "snatched" her. So I think we will use the term "forever family day" (or something like that).

On March 1, we will fly to Guangzhou. This is where Meili's Visa documents are prepared so she can enter the United States. We will have the Visa interview on March 6, drive to Hong Kong on March 7, and leave for home on March 8.

We'll be traveling with 6 other families from our agency. Oddly enough, one of those six is a family that we were introduced to through some friends several months ago. They just happen to be traveling in February too. And they happen to be adopting from the same province we are, which means we will be with another American family the whole time. We're very thankful for this and hope we'll be able to be a source of support for each other.

While this is a very exciting time for us, it's also somewhat overwhelming and stressful. I feel like we ask for prayer a lot and I hope ya'll don't get tired of me begging for a slot when it seems there is always so much we could bring to Jesus. But we truly want to cover this process, and Meili, in prayer...especially on February 25th. I plan to share some specific prayer requests soon, but for now, all I'm asking for is peace.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
