It's GO time!

We tucked our kids in tonight...the last time we'll get to do this for 16 days. I felt like we couldn't tell them enough how much we loved them and will miss them! Our littlest asked for extra snuggle time in case she "misses the snuggles" while we're gone. Yeah, that makes it easy to leave.... :(

They are in very good hands, and they're very excited to be getting a sister. But all things considered, I think it's going to be hard on all of us.

The bags are packed.

Paperwork is ready!

We set up a countdown "calendar" for the kids to help them gauge how long it will be until we return.

Jon will turn 33 in China on 3/3. What a great way to celebrate a birthday!

We think we are ready to go! Or rather, as ready as we'll ever be.

For those of you who have been and will continue to be praying for us (and for whom we are SO grateful!), we have a few specific things that we'd so appreciate prayer for:

For our family at home:
• That they would be safe and stay healthy while we're gone.
• For the Lord to prepare them to welcome their new sister despite the challenges it may bring.
• That they would know how much we love and miss them.
• For our parents to be able to be patient and loving with our kids and not get too worn out!

For Meili:
• That the Lord would prepare her heart to meet us...that somehow she might know that we're there to love and care for her.
• For her medical needs, that they would not be more than what was described to us in her file, and that if they are, the Lord will give us the strength we need to deal with whatever arises.
• That she would be able to begin to form bonds of attachment to us while we are still in China. And while we will certainly honor her heritage, pray that she will be able to break her bonds to China in a healthy, appropriate way.
• For her overall health and development, which may be very poor. Pray that she would begin to grow and heal as soon as possible.

For Us:
For peace as we move through each day on this incredibly emotional journey.
• That we would be able to adjust easily to the 14 hour time change so that we will be rested when we meet Meili.
• For our safety in the air, on land, and in a completely foreign country.
• For our health in China. Pray that we will not have to deal with digestive issues or have any other medical complications that would keep us from being the best parents we can be during those first difficult days. Specifically, please pray that I will not get any headaches, as I've been struggling with severe ones the last couple weeks.
• That we would be able to love this child whom we have never met and in some small way, already begin to introduce her to Jesus through the way we care for her.

But most of all, please pray that God's will would be done and that HIS name be glorified. It was HIM who brought us to this point, and HE will see us through it to the end.
